Ingredients

  • 1 can Gold Seal Wild Mackerel in Olive Oil, drained
  • 2 sandwich buns, toasted
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp wasabi paste (or to taste)
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ white onion, diced
  • Lettuce leaves
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • Pickles (whole or sliced)

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise with wasabi paste, ground ginger, and lemon juice. Set aside.
  2. Drain the mackerel and sauté in a pan over medium heat with diced onion until the onion is soft and fragrant (about 3–4 minutes).
  3. Toast the sandwich buns to your liking and spread a generous layer of wasabi mayo on each bun half.
  4. Layer the sautéed mackerel and onions, followed by lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles.
  5. Close the sandwich and serve!
