Ingredients

  • 1 can of Gold Seal Lemon & Peppercorn Wild Mackerel, drained
  • ¼ cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Crackers or toasted bread
  • Pickles, thinly sliced
  • Red onion, thinly sliced
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish
  • Optional: garlic (to rub on toast)

Directions

  1. In a bowl, mix the drained mackerel with cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add lemon juice, a pinch of salt, and a bit of pepper to taste. Mix well.
  3. Toast your bread or prepare your crackers. (Optional: rub toast lightly with a cut clove of garlic for added flavour.)
  4. Spread the mackerel paté onto each piece.
  5. Top with a slice of pickle, a few slivers of onion, and a sprig of parsley.
