This savoury sardine spread recipe makes the perfect base for other sandwich toppings. Try it with banana peppers, arugula or pickles! So yummy!

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (125g) Gold Seal Sardines (Spring Water) drained
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ lemon juiced
  • 1 tsp chives chopped
  • ¼ tsp chili powder
  • 4 slices French bread
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. In a food processor combine all ingredients except bread and puree until smooth (about 45 seconds to 1 minute), season with salt and pepper.
  2. Spread on toasted bread.
  3. Garnish with freshly ground pepper.

TRICKS

Top with arugula or pickles for more flavour.

Substitute chives with green onions if not available.

Cut into bite sized pieces and top with roasted red pepper for an easy and pretty appetizer.
